			Generally agreed to be the most advanced power in [[Known Space]], the Ruz'kahni Directorate, founded initially by the canine-like [[Feni]] and the avian [[Jesoban]] peoples, are gregarious, curious and diverse. Their society is divided up into numerous almost completely independent states known as clans. They are a by and large peaceful people that in almost all ways seek coexistence with others, yet contrarily engage in routine, low-stakes combat and raids against others in and out of their clan.

			Known to be moralistic busybodies to most foreigners, to them they hold grave responsibility in the cosmos to leave it a better place than when they first left for the stars.

			== History ==
			Founded in 2041, the Directorate's history as a power begins a bit earlier in 1805. 1805 marked the end to regular warfare between the clans of Fen, and the foundation of a united government for the many feni people. Already technologically advanced from centuries of destructive intertribal warfare, they soon reached for other star systems and launched a pair of light-hugging exploration ship towards two stars, identified as Ora and Jesoba. By 1985, they had landed and the scientists in the Ora system managed to, due to observing peculiar physical interactions, develop FTL in 2040, its test is successful. Within a year, the Jesoban colonies on Vaa and Oran colonies and Celleni were united, and they returned, combined to Fen with grave news.

			Intelligent life exists, and their colonization nearly destroyed it. The avians now known as the Jesobans were the first people brought into the Directorate, and are founding members, though nearly driven extinct due to environmental collapse their primitive civilization was forcibly and accidentally brought forward tens of thousands of years of natural development and were very nearly destroyed as a species.

			After this, a new era of caution was enacted, only species of certain population stability could be interacted with, and technological items should be held back from those who could missuse them. A policy they kept in numerous first contacts, the [[Kemzali]], the [[Human]] beings, and many more. While each new people brought new migrants, new knowledge and new cultures to the Directorate, Humanity marked a massive migration wave. Human missionaries flooded the Directorate and laid a foundation for a now shared religious landscape.

They however, were prepared for war, this time, and the Ruz'kahni philosophy of the Survival War was launched, a near-religious crusade to ensure the survival of the Ruz'kahni peoples, the Directorate’s enlightened reign and the progress of the galaxy towards a brighter future. The aggression and willingness to do anything to survive has marked the Directorate since the war’s end, for better or for worse.
