The kemzali made spacestation Selaa Hohr, meaning 'Selaa's Wrath', now officially known as Distant Sands-11 is the personal station of Selaa Maala, a 477 year old kemzali matron and is one of the key Directorate locations along the Coreworld March and your current home.

Overview and Specifications

1455 meters tall 460 meters long and 284 meters wide with 100 decks along its main body varying between 10 and 30 meters in height and with 27 decks along its two primary towers. Selaa Hohr can hold up to 20000 residents, and an additional 40000 kobari and requires an absolute minimum of 674 crewmen. Additionally its external secondary ring can hold 30 kemzali and their retinue. It is capable of travel, though its sub-light maneuvering is slow, clumsy and unremarkable in performance, even for kemzali starships.

Its facilities are opulent for a station, with 11 hangars, 3 massive biome-simulation decks for hunting and recreation and a furnished miniature city of markets, malls and other amenities.

History

Construction on the station began 2132, and development was finished in early 2147, Selaa Hohr was designed with the express purpose of aiding colonization efforts for the Maala dynasty, christened and given to her child, Selaa to colonize Son-Sallari in the Azar system. A life supporting world past the Directorate border, as the war with the Directorate continued it was significantly up-armed into a proper war-machine. Before being eventually damaged, stranded and captured within the Directorate near the end of the conflict when the Directorate cruiser, RDEF-AK Hazzan rammed into the neck of the station, disrupting its power supply and damaging its ability to engage in FTL travel. Selaa and her station were held as prisoners until the conflict ended.

Postwar

Repairs would take a full decade after the conflict's end and became a key figure in the tepid peace between the Directorate and United families. Remaining in Directorate space for two decades, its repair encouraged trade, experimentation and some amount of unity between the two peoples and it was decided it would remain in Directorate space as a mobile-embassy for the kemzali people--its lower gravity more appealing to the species. However a notable issue occured in 2240, a pathogen devastated the kobari population, leaving the station almost nonfunctional. Much of its basic services, typical of united families technology, relied on a living ecosystem of thousands of kobari to manage basic systems in place of automation. When the population dwindled, the station was derelict and it would take decades for re-population of the scale needed. A solution was required, and with it, was a unique, purpose built Al'Ames-Svet integrated AI system and a significant amount of Directorate automation and computing throughout the ship.

Current day

The United families remained almost entirely neutral during the Colonial Revolutionary War, and due to political concerns the station would leave Directorate space during the conflict. When the Gadiimkimi Dark Region was opened up, it was decided that Selaa Hohr would be relocated to the new frontier to aid its original colonization efforts, and be a first-representation of the Maala dynasty in the Directorate, her daughter Sahna taking over for Selaa as ambassador.

Design

A large station, it is fundamentally in three parts. The outer ring, which is meant to separate kemzali from the guests and settlers in the main station and is carefully designed to make the residents able to live without any need to interact with each other. The main shaft which is power, storage, docking systems, spartan living quarters for visitors and tools for tending other vehicles. The upper portion, while capable of operating independently via emergency separation contains the backup reactors, FTL and maneuver drives, and the vast majority of life supporting decks.

Manufacturing Technique

As typical with the technology base of the kemzali, the ship is bio-mechanical, possessing significant biological systems to maintain and repair its structure, made up of the plastic-like bone substance wathui for structure. Its peculiar combination of machine and biological entity makes it difficult for most non kobari engineers to fully understand. An advantage of its design is its nearly impossible for the station to lose gravity. With each floor using the family's super-gravity and anti-gravity materials, ensuring each floor has a consistent up, down, and the level of this up and down can vary between floors based on purpose. Caking these layers between the different panels and rooms.

Defenses

Selaa Hohr's defenses are currently stripped down and include 112 relatively potent hnad plasma projectors along its length, 40 assault ships and 260 fighters and 12 corvettes. A relatively large load-out, though it currently lacks the personnel to operate all of its defensive equipment. During wartime, it had its same 112 hnad projectors, two spinal planetary-assault projectors, 1300 fighters, 200 assault ships. 6 light destroyers, and 16 corvettes.

AI System

One of the most peculiar aspects to the station is its usage of a thinking machine. Kemzali stations normally have nearly no functional automation, preferring a vast population of kobari who's biological functions are related to manipulating systems and taking the place of traditional automation. During its second refit, Selaa Hohr was altered to use an experimental clan Ames-Svet system, integrated with its biological systems. It is a peculiar unity of two relatively uncommon (and ill reputed) systems within the Directorate and the exact design, while a clan secret, has been cause for religious concern even among highly secular clans.
