Gwix

The Gwix are a species of industrious, hyper capitalist humanoids that have varying skin tones and body types. They are a hearty species with an aptitude for logistics and science, and can be seen in all corners of the galaxy. Happy to play with novel and the dangerous, the Gwix’s boom in scientific research and industry can lead to unexpected results, if their ruined moon is anything to go by, a result of a runaway physics project gone entirely haywire.

Physical Description

The Gwix are divided into two bloodlines, The TOK and the TAL. These bloodlines are often regarded as the brains and the brawn of society as they’re named after the Goddess of Prosperity and the God of Might respectively.  TOK are short statured humanoids often possessing large hooked noses and large ears with over-sized heads and appear much like mythical goblins. While the TAL are large, 6-8 foot tall, bulky, tusked individuals similar to mythical orcs. They both tend to be green, brown, gray, ruddy yellow, but rarely have naturally human skin tones despite otherwise somewhat similar appearances.

Heritages

As aforementioned, Gwix come in two heritages, TOK and TAL. The two bloodlines of the Gwix.

  • TOK Smaller, more intelligent and savvy, TOK run their society. They run the finances, numbers and are natural statisticians. Biologically capable of understanding the minutiae of a system.
  • TAL Larger, bulkier and stronger, they act as enforcement and power in their society. While not necessarily dumber than the TOK, they are usually stereotyped as it and are rarely in the upper management of Gwix society.

History

One of the more ancient contiguous governments in the galaxy, ancient primitive tribes on their homeworld Merik Reuir formed as a global unification of family-tribe groups, slowly shifting into a state-capitalist form before iron was fully harnessed. Since, they have managed to remain a remarkably peaceful society with only occasional violent acquisition. In the modern era, they worked hard to ensure a stratified, absolute monopoly. Each corporate family cannot be permitted to control more than another, and the overarching government only permits competition–and ruthless competition at that, with foreign powers.

Society

Gwixian society is based around the six family-corporations of the Onk Conglomerate. With social position based entirely on blood-closeness to the families that rule each of the corporations. To be of a family-name is not to be set for life, but to be in constant competition with other name bearers. To be a lower-class caste within the corporation is to be an ill-treated laborer regarded as little more than consumers. Gwix are desperate consumers and it is a wonder that their world is habitable, if barely. Eagerly gobbling, consuming and destroying environments almost everywhere they go. Example Names:

Beliefs

Gwix revere two gods, Tok and Tal, a dualistic faith in which Tok is associated with growth and positivity, industry, currency and wealth, and the God Tal, associated with entropy and chaos and destruction. Gwix tend to not build shrines to Tal, but to Tok, yet consider Tal more of a primordial force and not an evil one, a partner and parallel to the greatness of Tok in their society. Tok is the embodiment of the bootstraps one must pull themself up by. Gwix are similarly, terribly dismissive of others hardships. To the gwix, effort is how you gain success, and failure is a personal crime, not a societal.
