Overview
The Conglomerate is a stagnant corporate society primarily organized around hereditary rule and a form of stagnant mercantilism, in which all competition was eliminated, with each corporation having an equal share and anti-competitive systems. The Gwix were first encountered by the Directorate shortly after contact with humanity and have remained independent since. Their primary economy and interest are trade, profit and have little concern over moral impact. Both the Sovereign Federation and the GCIS have leveled significant sanctions against the corporations, crippling their economy in the last decade as human corporations take over much of their trade routes.
Current Relations
The Council has little interest in the Gwix or their concept of profit and finances, though their traders are a common sight throughout the Directorate. Lobbying by the Human-allied clans to restrict their trade has led them into desperation and created advantageous trading situations for major trade-clans such as the Houyani and Jahhari. Despite this, it is not recommended to trust Onk traders as their ships are rumored to be opportunistic pirates.
Technology
The Onk’s primary invention was the vast trade-unification networks, labyrinthine databases that are difficult to navigate, detailing regional laws, currency conversions and industrial evaluations of much of known space.
